JOSEPH HOWE: THE STATESMAN
Joseph Howe was the editor of the newspaper the Nova Scotian . Howe was instrumental in establishing freedom of the press in Canada and he lead the campaign to establish responsible government. Howe was a Politician for Hants from 1856-63 and from 1867-73. As well, Howe had a mistress in Maitland who bore him a son named Edward. Edward gave Howe a grandson who became Capt. Joseph Howe.
